Here’s my prediction. Office 2007 will not be changed to Office 2008 as they have not decided if they should hire Puff Daddy or Jessica Alba to be the next ambassador for it. Sheesh. Seriously they should sack the whole PR team in good old MS and get me instead. I’m cheaper than the whole lot. How else can I buy my first Porshe ?
Microsoft will delay the release of its Office 2007 business productivity software to improve product performance in the latest setback for the world’s largest software maker.
Microsoft said it will now aim for a launch of Office 2007 to business customers by the end of 2006 rather than an earlier target of October. Microsoft also said it would delay the general availability of the Office upgrade to early 2007 from its previous January target.
The delay of the 2007 Microsoft Office package, which includes the Word processor, Excel spreadsheet and PowerPoint presentation software, marks the latest slip-up at Microsoft, which has been plagued by a series of postponements.

Take the Windows Vista 101 course and learn more on this new OS. Its pretty useful if you want to know what it can do…But you’ll need to hold your breath a little longer as I don’t think they can meet the end 2006 dateline for a corporate release.
Learn the basics about this pivotal release, and test your knowledge by taking Windows Vista 101. This mini-course requires only about 10 minutes of your time. To take the course, you’ll need a Microsoft Partner Program membership or an access code.

The Windows Vista Download Build 5456 is out now ! If you are beta user at Microsoft Connect, then you’ve probably downloaded it already. As for me, I’m still waiting for Vista Stabil Version 1.0 since I’m pretty paranoid of beta software.
We are forgetting about the staff fiasco happening at Microsoft now and just concentrating on this new Windows Vista beta release. Microsoft has just released an updated version of Windows Vista to technical beta testers. Build 5456 is available in either x86 or x64 flavors right now on Microsoft Connect. Neosmart just posted some additional information about this build:

Come 2007, you might see a lot of computer vendors or OEMs bundle Vista into their Dual Core PCs, etc as was done with Windows XP. That will be good news for computer users but whether this will apply to users in Asia is another story. Piracy is rampant in that part of the world but freebies and discounts will be a good way for Microsoft to slash piracy statistics over there.
If Microsoft and computer makers offer free or discounted versions of Windows Vista to PC buyers this fall and winter, the way promotions for XP were run in 2001 will offer some clues, said a research analyst.
“Most likely, we will have some sort of promotion at the consumer level,” Mike Sievert, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Windows client marketing, told CRN. “It’s important that people see value right up until the launch of Vista.”
Five years ago, as Windows XP’s fall debut neared, OEMs began offering either free upgrades to XP for new PC buyers, or charged for a coupon that entitled them to a Windows XP disc. Compaq — prior to its acquisition by Hewlett-Packard — gave away the upgrade to XP, while other OEMS, such as Gateway and Dell, charged handling fees ranging from $15 to $39.
