Windows Anytime Upgrade Will Deliver Vista

The Windows Vista operating system will include all versions on a single CD, Microsoft has announced. Users will go online to purchase an upgrade licence.

This feature is called Windows Anytime Upgrade. After choosing an upgrade, users will access a Microsoft partner’s site to buy and download a license. The user will thus be authorized to insert the original CD or DVD to upgrade the Vista version.

Windows Anytime Upgrade will enable users of Windows Vista Home Basic to upgrade to either the Home Premium or Ultimate versions of the software from their computers. By sending the user to a partner site, Microsoft hopes to avoid competition with computer manufacturers by not selling licenses directly to computer users.

It’s understood that MS Office 2007 will also be delivered by this means.
