Goodbye Office 12 Hello Office 2007?

There have been rumors for a while about a possible Office 2006. But get this: Steve Bink of Bink.nu attended an IT Forum, where the Office 12 demos were branded as Office 2007.

Does that mean that Office is going to be late? After all, Windows Vista Beta 2 is already five months delayed.

  1. My sources at Microsoft confirmed that this is purely rumor at this point. The reference to Office 2007 is just due to the previous versions of office using that nomenclature. They assured me that the Office 12 release scheduled for the second half of 2006 is still very much on schedule.

  2. Hi Jason,

    My sources are less clear-cut than yours seem to be. I’m going with Steve Bink in this post, and he’s a guy who’s really at the cutting edge. I suppose I’ll only be truly convinced when Paul Thurrott runs with it.

    We can only wait and see. :-)
